So what exactly is Nashville?
Nashville is an Instagram filter that is one of the most overused filters of all time and for good reason! Nashville has a lovely dream-like quality to it that makes almost any photograph look great.

To create an effect that mimics the Nashville Instagram filter as closely as possible, we will be creating several adjustment layers. Adjustment layers are a great way to make edits as they give the most control over the edit. The first adjustment layer will be the first of the three curve adjustment layers. Click on the adjustment layer icon (circle icon, bottom right corner) and select ‘Curves’. Click on the RGB dropdown menu and select Green. Click on the bottom left corner square point (highlighted by the red circle in the animation below). Enter an output value of 37. Click on the dropdown menu and select Blue. Curves Adjustment Layer
Levels Adjustment Layer
Click on the adjustment layer icon (circle icon, bottom right corner) and select ‘Levels’.
Adjust the shadow input level to 35, the midtone input level to 1.35, and the highlight input level to 235.
Brightness & Contrast Adjustment Layer
Click on the adjustment layer icon (circle icon, bottom right corner) and select ‘Brightness/Contrast’.
Set the brightness to 6 and the contrast to 51. Make sure ‘Use Legacy’ is unchecked.
Curves Adjustment Layer
Click on the adjustment layer icon and select ‘Curves’.
In the second of three curve adjustment layers, select Green from the dropdown menu as previously done in stage 2.1.
Click on the bottom left corner square point and enter an input value of 13.
Click on the dropdown menu and select Blue. Click on the bottom left corner square point and enter an input value of 88.
Brightness & Contrast Adjustment Layer
Click on the adjustment layer icon (circle icon, bottom right corner) and select ‘Brightness/Contrast’.
In the second and final Brightness and Contrast adjustment layer, set the brightness to -6 and the contrast to 33.
Curves Adjustment Layer
Click on the adjustment layer icon and select ‘Curves’.
In the final curve adjustment layer, select Red from the dropdown menu.
Click on the bottom left corner square point and enter an output value of 4.
Click on the dropdown menu and select Blue. Click on the bottom left corner square point and enter an input value of 26.
Solid Color Adjustment Layer
Click on the adjustment layer icon and select ‘Solid Color’.
Enter the RGB color value: 255,218,173 or hex value #ffdaad and press OK.
Change the blend mode of the Solid Color Fill to Multiply.
Group
Select all the adjustment layers by clicking on the top adjustment layer, holding down SHIFT and clicking on the bottom adjustment layer. This will select all the layers. Create a group by either using the shortcut Command/Ctrl (Mac/PC) and G, or clicking on the group icon at the bottom right of your workspace.
Minor Adjustments Unique to the Image Being Edited
Now that all the adjustment layers are in one group you’re able to reduce the opacity of the entire group, which in turn reduces the amount of the Nashville filter applied to the image, just like on Instagram.
You can also take your adjustments further by reducing the opacity of each individual adjustment layer.
